Construction of the New Marine Container Terminal in the Haifa Port
Customer: HPA (for Israel Ports Company)
Main activities:
The project covered a variety of activities that included conducting and supervising of a site survey (marine drilling and geophysical survey), geophysical interpretation and the characterization of the subsurface rock stratigraphy and the geometry of the layers, tectonic elements using geophysical and boring information.
In addition, Ecolog participated in the preparation of the environmental assessment survey for the planned terminal.
During the survey, Ecolog was required to characterize the geology and tectonics in the area of the plan, to build a seismotectonic model of the Haifa Bay area, to conduct a geophysical "site specific" response survey in order to quantify the expected on-site soil vibrations, and provide recommendations for the foundation of sensitive facilities and estimate the potential for liquefaction and the potential danger of a tsunami hitting the site.
